Permanent link adapters are consumable items. On a large project, the cost and lead time of replacement tips can exceed the cost of a second test set, so confirm local adapter availability before committing to a platform.

Result management is the second decision point. Platforms that synchronise to a project workspace allow supervisors to identify failing runs while installers are still on site, avoiding costly return visits during handover.

Finally, plan for fibre. Even predominantly copper projects now include fibre uplinks, and modular platforms that accept both copper and fibre adapters avoid carrying two separate instruments to site.
